Date of birth is unknown.

Joined Nihon Falcom in 1993 with Hirofumi Matsuoka, Naoki Kaneda, and Masaru Nakajima. He was in charge of composing and arranging for Brandish 2, YsIV, The Legend of Xanadu, and The Legend of Heroes III.

However, he was credited as a sound programmer for YsV in 1995, and was also in charge of sound programming for The Legend of Heroes IV the following year. Since Lord Monarch Original, he has been credited as a programmer without being involved as a sound programmer. During this time, he was no longer a member of the sound team, and seems to have turned completely into a programmer.

Thus, Tsunashima has a unique background among the sound team members of the past.

In 1999, he resigned from Falcom after working as a scenario programmer for the domestic port of a Korean game, "西風の狂詩曲".

After that, Tsunashima became involved with "Gruppo One", which was established by staff members who had left Nihon Falcom, and composed the music for "風の探索者～Grand Slam～", which was released in 2000, sharing the work with Hirofumi Matsuoka, who was still working at Falcom at the time. Matsuoka was only involved in this one game, but Tsunashima continued to work on "Ding! -MONO-" as a programmer and this time was in charge of all the BGM, and "風の探索者大陸編～Eternal Flame～" was also a programmer, game designer, and all the BGM. However, after working on the program, game design, and all BGM for "風の探索者2 ～Shadow Kingdom～" released in 2003, Tsunashima and Gruppo One disappeared from the industry, and his current whereabouts are unknown.

Incidentally, Matsuoka said on Twitterthat he was responsible for 70% of the BGM for "風の探索者～Grand Slam～" which means that of the 20 tracks in the game, Tsunashima's music does not account for that much. In fact, when you listen to the songs, there are indeed two types of sounds, one of which is more than the majority, which confirms Matsuoka's tweet. The theme song "Snow White" and the Instrumental arrangement of "瘴気の谷" by Rabsaris led by Matsuoka are definitely by Matsuoka, and can be analyzed based on these. Matsuoka's sound field is wide and diffuse, while Tsunashima's sound is condensed inside and has a sharp rise. The latter sound is found in "両刃の斧", "カーディナル・ファング", "Battle", "モンスター図鑑". So, these songs seem to be Tsunashima's songs. As far as I can tell, he is very skilled. He is a programmer, and his skills are high. The result does not show that he has been absent for several years.

However, the following year's "Ding! -MONO-" and later titles somehow reverted to the FM sound source, transforming into a retro-futuristic sound. For some reason, Tsunashima decided to go back to FM sound sources for all of his titles, rather than the more realistic PCM-based sounds that he had used in "風の探索者～Grand Slam～". I don't know if Tsunashima was that attached to the FM sound source, if he was an engineer and found it worthwhile, or if he simply chose to go back to his roots as the direction of the series, but it was the exact opposite of the Falcom sound that shifted from FM to external sound sources in the late 1990s. It is interesting to note that Tsunashima resigned from the sound business in the midst of this transition, but returned to FM sound as soon as he became free to act as he wished. It is rumored that Tsunashima was opposed to MIDI, which was being led by Matsuoka at the time. In addition, "風の探索者2 ～Shadow Kingdom～" comes with an update program that brings the original "風の探索者～Grand Slam～" up to the same level as the latest version, but the BGM is also replaced by Tsunashima's retro sound. Of course, all of Matsuoka's atmospheric songs are overwritten, and Rabsaris' "Snow White" is now an FM arrangement without vocals. As a result, the relationship between Tsunashima and Matsuoka seems to be a little conflicted, but we don't know the truth since one of them is deceased and the other is still missing.

In the end, all Tsunashima left behind after leaving Falcom was the "風の探索者" series and three retro soundtracks for the same series.

1993年に松岡博文氏、金田直樹氏、中島勝氏とともに日本ファルコムへ入社。ブランディッシュ2やイースIV、風の伝説ザナドゥ、英雄伝説IIIなどの作編曲を担当する。

ただ1995年のイースVでサウンドプログラムとしてクレジットされたのを皮切りに翌年の英雄伝説IVでもサウンドプログラミングを担当。ロードモナーク・オリジナル以降はサウンドとしても携わらずプログラムとしてクレジットされるようになった。この間にサウンドチームのメンバーからも外れ完全にプログラマーへ転向したようである。

このように綱島氏は歴代サウンドメンバーの中では異色の経歴を持つ。

そして1999年には韓国ゲームの国内移植作「西風の狂詩曲」のシナリオプログラムを最後にファルコムも辞職することとなった。

その後綱島氏は日本ファルコムを退社したスタッフが結集して設立された「Gruppo One」に関わる。2000年発売の「風の探索者～Grand Slam～」を当時まだファルコムに在籍していた松岡博文氏と分担して作曲をおこなった*1。松岡氏はこの一作のみの関わりだったが綱島氏はその後も「Ding！〜MONO〜」でプログラムと今度は全てのBGMを担当、「風の探索者大陸編～Eternal Flame～」ではやはりプログラムとゲームデザイン、全BGMと多義に渡って活躍をしていた。ただ2003年発売の「風の探索者2 ～Shadow Kingdom～」でプログラム、ゲームデザイン、全BGMを担当したのを最後にGruppo Oneとともに綱島氏も業界から消えていき今現在の消息は全く不明である。

ちなみに「風の探索者～Grand Slam～」のBGMだが松岡氏はTwitterで7割を担当したと仰られており、全20曲中でその比率だと綱島氏の曲はそう多くない。実際聴いていくと確かに二種類のサウンドが存在しており、そのうちのひとつは過半数以上を占めているので松岡氏のツイートを裏付けることになる。松岡氏率いるRabsarisの主題歌「Snow White」とインストアレンジ「瘴気の谷」は確実に松岡氏によるものなのでこれらを元に分析が可能。音場が広く拡散気味なのが松岡氏、音が内側に凝縮されていて音の立ち上がりが鋭いのが綱島氏だろう。そういった後者のサウンドになっているのが「両刃の斧」「カーディナル・ファング」「Battle」「モンスター図鑑」*2であり、これらの曲が綱島氏の曲と思われる。聴く限りにおいては腕が立つ。プログラムをやっているだけあって技量も高い。数年のブランクを感じさせない仕上がりとなっている。

ただ翌年発売の「Ding！〜MONO〜」以降のタイトルではどうゆうわけかFM音源に回帰したレトロフューチャーなサウンドに変貌している。風の探索者で採用していたPCM系のリアルな音色よりも制約が大きく既に廃れてきた音色の方を全てのタイトルで選んだのである。それだけ綱島氏がFM音源に愛着があったのかエンジニア気質でやり甲斐を見出していたのか単にシリーズの方向性として原点回帰を選んだだけなのかは分からないが、奇しくも1990年代後半のFM音源から外部音源へシフトしていったファルコムサウンドとは真逆の道を進むことになった。綱島氏はその端境期でサウンドを辞したが自身が自由に振る舞える環境になった途端FM音源に戻ったというのは何か関係がありそうであり興味深い現象だ。当時、松岡氏が社内で主導していたMIDIに綱島氏は反発していたという噂もある。さらに「風の探索者2 ～Shadow Kingdom～」には初代風の探索者を最新作と同等レベルに引き上げるアップデートプログラムが同梱されているがBGMも綱島氏によるレトロサウンドに置き換わる。もちろん松岡氏による雰囲気溢れる曲も全て上書きされRabsarisによる「Snow White」もボーカル無しのFM音源アレンジとなってしまった。そういったこともあり松岡氏との関係に少し確執を感じさせられるが一方は故人に、一方は消息不明のままなので本当のことは分からない。

結局綱島氏がファルコム退社後に残したものは風の探索者シリーズとレトロな同シリーズのサントラ3枚*3だけであるが成果を残すことすら叶わない退社メンバーも多い中で比較的恵まれたほうではあるのだろう。
